Other Activities at Heidehof

Heidehof undertakes a variety of sundry activities to provide enriched quality of life for those under our care either directly or indirectly. They include the following:

Congregate Dining: This program is available to those living in our Edelweiss Seniors’ Rental Apartments and Lindenhaus Seniors’ Life Lease Apartments and provides nutritionally balanced meals at reasonable cost to tenants and their guests. Provided in the Main Dining Room, dinner is served at 12:00 noon while supper is served at 5:00 p.m. Although reservations are not required, one should be at the Dining Room by serving time. Those that are wishing to bring guests are encouraged to give advance notice to the Dietary staff, especially for special occasions such as Christmas, Mothers Day or Thanksgiving.

This program has proved beneficial to the many tenants who do not want to have to “cook for one” day in and day out. Many tenants opt to regularly attend to the Dining Room for their main noon hour meal and make their own breakfasts and suppers only. This provides good nutrition as well as encouraging socialization for the tenants and is indeed appreciated by many.

Hall Rentals: Heidehof rents out its uniquely attractive Ballroom which is licensed for up to 350 people and provides a Bavarian style setting for weddings, anniversaries, retirements and special occasion functions (no student or stag functions).

Feastivities by Home Style Catering is our exclusive caterer for people renting the Heidehof Ballroom for weddings and other special events that require food and bar services.

Feastivities have been catering to venues in the Niagara Region since 1971, offering fine international cuisine accommodating guest lists ranging up to 3000 people. Peter Van-Helsdingen and his professional staff will be happy to assist you in coordinating your complete needs. The Heidehof Ballroom will handle functions ranging from 50 to 350 guests.

For Additional information, contact Peter Van-Helsdingen by calling:
905-735-5864, 905-735-5864, or go to their website at www.feastivities.ca for all the details.

Entertainment Events: Many entertainment events take place in our Ballroom for the direct benefit of our residents and tenants. It is a gathering place where the entire Heidehof population can get together to share in monthly birthday parties, theme days, and special occasions. It isn’t unusual to have a choir or band direct from Germany come to Heidehof to share their talents with our people while they visit Canada. We seem to be well known to many German groups who often come to Southern Ontario to see Niagara Falls and express their wish to entertain our folks as part of their holiday/tour. It is certainly appreciated by our German speaking residents, as it provides a perfect opportunity to hear news from the “old country”.

Community Aqua -Therapy Pool

Heidehof operates an indoor therapeutic pool which has a depth of 4 feet 8 inches, is kept at a temperature of 92 to 94 degrees Fahrenheit, and uses chlorine for sanitizing the water. The pool is accessible by stairs and is supervised by a qualified Life Guard / Pool Attendant.

The pool is available for use by the seniors' comunity at large who have their doctor's authorization and completion of our medical clearance form. Registration is subject to class availability. Twenty-one structured and unstructured one hour classes are offered per week. The number of patrons in the pool at any one time must be limited to a maximum of 20 for each hour. There are structured classes, when the instructor is in the water and everyone does the same exercises together and unstructured times when patrons work on their own therapy needs with the instructor remaining on deck. To benefit as many patrons as possible, you will be scheduled for no more than two visits per week.

A user fee of $45.00 per session is charged. Sessions last three months and are as follows:

Winter Session = January, February and March
Spring Session = April, May and June
Summer Session = July, August, and September
Fall Session = October, November and December
