Edelweiss Seniors’ Rental Apartments

Heidehof operates 91 compact rental apartment units in the same building as the Long Term Care Home, but housed in separate wings. Anyone 60 years of age or older may apply. A deposit of $200.00 is required to be put on a wait list. The length of time it will take to be called for a particular available unit is difficult to predict. It depends upon how many on the wait list are ahead of you who are actively looking for a unit of the same type as you. It is therefore in your best interest to accept the broadest range of units possible to shorten the wait time as much as possible.

The Edelweiss Apartments consist of the following types of units and current monthly rent rates:

58 Bachelor Units of 340 to 410 sq. ft. renting at between $445.00 and $523.00

27 One Bedroom Units of 470 to 480 sq. ft. renting at between $555.00 and $634.00

4 Premium One Bedroom Units of 585 to 705 sq. ft. renting at between $795.00 and $930.00

2 Premium Two Bedroom Units of 740 square feet renting at $1,025.00

Apartment units are heated by hot water radiator systems and may be air conditioned by the use of tenant owned window air conditioners. The premium units have forced air heating with central air conditioning also included. Kitchens include refrigerator and stove, venetian blinds, are furnished for all windows, and bathrooms come with either a tub or oversized shower stall. All but two of the units have patios (first floor) or balconies (second floor). Cable TV and a reserved parking space for those owning a vehicle are included in the monthly rent. Many units have been refurbished to upgrade kitchens and bathrooms.

Apartment tenants may share in the use of the facilities and some of the programs offered in the Long Term Care Home Program. Monthly calendars are delivered to tenants to keep them informed of activities they are invited to attend as well as their own programs they may have from time to time. A Tenants’ Association is encouraged and supported by the Management Team to plan and carry out social programs of interest to fellow tenants.

Other services available on site to tenants include banking, beauty salon, physician, foot care, blood pressure monitoring, and therapeutic pool.
